Character Information:
Name: Hubert Oswell
Canon: Tales of Graces f
Canon point: Before his return to Lhant
Age: 17

Appearance: Hubert reaches a height of 5'7". He has a thin but rather muscular built and wears a standard Strahta military issued coat over a unitard and hooker white knee-high boots. There is also this type of cape/scarf fabric hanging behind his legs which I assume is something only lieutenants of Strahta wears considering Hubert is the only soldier with this feature. His most distinguishable characteristic is his stern look emphasized more prominently by his glasses. Occasionally he came be found pushing them up during conversations. His color scheme is predominantly blue including even his eyes and hair.

Background: History
A majority of this information is from the game synopsis. The paragraphs with a star are written by me.

Previous Game History: N/A

Personality: At the tender age of 10 Hubert was originally a timid but intelligent child (who would occasionally soil himself when encountering a frightful confrontation). On countless occasions he would be commandeered to join his rebellious older brother in his adventures. Those days eventually came to an end when Hubert's father chose to give up his son for adoption to the Oswell family. This decision left quite an effect on Hubert and although he may not admit it, it encouraged him to climb high in the world to prove his worth which eventually led him to becoming a stoic confident person he is now

Hubert upholds a high level of professionalism throughout the adulthood and future arcs. Never one to stray from the objective he is often the one to snap the group back on track and is unwilling to stop for anything even if it's for a quick meal. True to his title as lieutenant, he has no difficulties in leading an army or working to finding a solution to a problem. Although he may not meet the level of technological intelligence Pascal has, he is more informative than the average person and is known as the knowledgeable one in the group. Even in his youth Hubert was capable of translating difficult phrases to his companions.

Contrary to his level-headed front he can easily be sent to a flustered or defensive state. Prideful as he is he won't tolerant any verbal jabs about his person. Though at times his reactions conflict with his professional image as it comes off as him behaving childishly. Moreover he can be distrusting to a fault and he does not attempt to hide those suspicions from the people in question. Although his skepticism is rightfully so, his paranoia can reach the point where it's condescending. Coughs induced by excessive singing call for suspicion and metaphors about people and nesting dolls become necessary. However, when it is realized that his suspicions were wrongfully placed, he is willing to recognize his mistakes and apologize.

Living a lavish lifestyle before and after his adoption by the Oswells (even more luxurious with the Oswells) along with his military status, Hubert has developed a strong sense of public morality and cannot tolerate any breaches towards his code of conduct. Should anyone not be in line with this code, he/she shall find themselves under the intense staring of Hubert Oswell. When questioned about the staring, Hubert will react by passionately explaining how indecent their behavior or clothing is. In Cheria's case, the length of her skirt.

Hubert harbors a case of childhood abandonment after being given up for adoption for seemingly no reason. Over the years this festered into him feeling some resentment towards his biological family to the point where he'll addressing his mother as "Lady Kerri" and disclaim being a Lhant. While this may be so he has not forgotten that Lhant is his homeland and feels an obligation to protect it. And although he had the privilege to speak to his father, his anger prevented him from doing so. He later comes to regret this decision when his father dies, making it impossible to speak to him every again. At the discovery of the reasons behind his adoption, Hubert decides to forgo his resentment and forgive his parents.

Furthermore he had initially assumed that his adoption meant that perhaps he was simply not good enough for the family. This resulted in him cultivating the sense that he must always be at the top; anything lower would be meaningless. It would also explain his competitiveness with everything. Whether is be a puzzle game or a child's toy, Hubert will gladly take on the challenge if it means competing with someone. He'll even go as far as creating a game just so he can prove his superior skills.

In spite of his no-nonsense attitude, Hubert is actually a child at heart. He is a fan of a particular action figure series called the Beach Brigade: Sunscreen Rangers. Of course Hubert views this as childish and would only continue his idolization of the series when no one else is around. When Sophie walks in on him reciting the Sunscreen Rangers introduction, he clumsily attempt to cover this up by saying that the "beach brigade" is a branch of the Strahta military. Also his self claimed covert weapon and fighting style is actually based off a comic series Hubert read as a kid.

Cold hearted he may seem from the front but honestly inside is a warm heart. As patronizing his nagging can be it is really a sign that he cares and is only watching out for that person's wellbeing. Whenever a member of the team is down, Hubert's there to give them some subtle encouragement. But try to point out his kindness and he'll deny it.

Skills and Powers: As capable as Hubert can be, he is as human as they come. The only exception to this are the particles implanted within him by Sophie's distributive preservation. These particles can be used to repair any damage areas and gives its host the ability to use a special power that can be used to defeat certain monsters.

In regards to fighting, Hubert is a capable if not an outstanding fighter and leader. While he was able to fend off an invading army, his true abilities are demonstrated during his one-on-one match with Asbel in which he emerged as the victor.

Moreover Hubert can be described somewhat as a jack of all trades. His dual blade is able to
interchange from a pair of guns, two short blades, and a swallow blade. (In one of his mystic artes it was used as a bow.) However this asset comes with a price. Between each conversion, there is a delay that leaves him exposed to attacks. He also has the ability to heal but this is not something to be overly impressed with. Within his list of healing artes there are only two: Healing Wind and Antidote. The amount of strength behind these artes are minor compared to the average healer. He can withstand the harsh conditions of the desert considering he grew up in such an area for 7 years.

Items: Hubert's the practical kind of person so he wouldn't bring anything other the essentials. Those being his dualblade, money, and clothing. Though there would be one item he has kept for sentimental value: a cryas charm Asbel has given to him when they were kids. Cryas charms are supposed to be bags filled with granulated cryas but at the time Asbel was unable to find any and with his brilliant 11-year-old mind used pepper as a substitute. So Hubert's pretty much carrying around a bag full of pepper but hey it brings good luck. It made a giant monster sneeze out the group when they were devoured.

Pretty much the symbol on Hubert's back engraved onto this.

Action:
[ The inner workings of this world was akin to that of a cryptic puzzle. Hubert has resided in this city for more than a week and he is no more knowledgeable about the place than he was on his first day. It was quite infuriating to be honest. Pushing his glasses back up, he gives the mirror resting on the wooden table a penetrating stare. A long silence followed suit before Hubert heaved a sigh and grabbed the mirror. Turning it around a few times, he quietly whispered to himself. ]

Whoever brought me to this city must believe they are quite comical.

[ His thumb brushed over the engraved symbol that was an exact copy of the one on his uniform. It was as if this person was just trying to rub in the fact he was unable to return home while they were able to easily bring him here. ]

Just in the world was their reason behind giving me this?

[ Dissatisfied with the lack of answer, Hubert pushes the mirror before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small bag. If one were to sniff the item (though honestly who would even think of such an idea?), they would recognize the pungent scent of pepper. ]

It seems that your good luck charm has lost its touch, Brother.

[ His blue eyes lowered at the thought of his family. Aston. The lord of Lhant. His biological father has recently died. Every since his adoption - abandonment, Hubert bitterly thought - he had not spoken one word to any of his family members. Now one of them is gone, sleeping forever in a coffin. Faintly - to the point where it's can uncertain if anything was said at all - he whispered. ]

. . . I'm sorry.

Third Person Prose:
Logic.

It was nothing mysterious or perplexing. Everything that pertained to the rules of logic was rational. There was always a rhyme or reason to whatever occurred. Anything that was
not logical simply could not be real.

However, everything in this world was illogical. He was asleep; yes, that is indeed logical. But it wasn't logical at how he awaken to find himself in some kind of area that is neither apart of Strahta, Windor, or Fendel. Where he was a is supposedly a "city where dreams come true."

Hubert quietly snorted to himself. Surely they jest.

Dreams don't just come true. Attaining those dreams must be done through hard work and discipline and even that might not be enough. Moreover, not all dreams can achieved. There are those foolish enough to imagine dead loved ones will some day come back to them. Of course, those kinds of dreams will never once be within reach.

And yet . . . how was it that during his trips around the city he sees his dead father? Moreover the moments he witness those sights they so happen to be at the time when he starts to thinking about him.

While Hubert is not one to spend so much time brooding over something that cannot be changed, it was only at that one moment - that one moment - where he chose to mull over it did he appear. After that it was the beginning of a chain reaction. Every since then he couldn't stop thinking about possibilities why and how he is able to see his father and that only seemed the encouraged the frequency of those sightings.

Usually he would convince himself that he was probably imagining things or that he needed to get some sleep. The thing was that it simply couldn't be his imagination because his father was right in front of him.

A distant face can be imagined but imaging an entire person two feet away is very doubtful. It doesn't help that the Aston look-alike rested his hand on top of Hubert's head. It felt too real for it to be a lie.

If he was in a dream, then why has he not woken up yet?

Why was he able to feel pain when he stubbed his toe the other day?

Why was there a sopheria flower resting on his bed when he was dreamt of the day they found Sophie?

None of these questions could be answered with a rational answer. The only answer that was the closest thing to reasonable, as odd as that may sound, was that the city indeed made dreams come true. And for some reason Hubert was chosen to become apart of whatever sick game everyone is playing.

None at the moment.
